Just before we started up Rea Respirator I (Fredrik) became inspired by Tranås only punkfanzine Fetvadd to start my own fanzine. In the end of 1994 I began to send out lots of interviews to bands I liked around the world. Then I started to get my stuff together in a fanzine I namned Byt Ben (in english: Change Leg). In mid 1985 the first issue came out including interviews with the American band Stalag 13, Italian Cheetah Crome Motherfuckers and the Swedish bands Krunch and Rövsvett. The first number was printed in 100 examples.
For the second issue I changed the format and the fanzine now had a lot of more substance and was much more worked with compared to the first issue. It took almost a year between the first and the second issue of Byt Ben, mostly because at this time it always took a very long time to get the interviews back from the bands. It would have been a thrill to make the same fanzine at this time, with today´s technology with computers, internet and e-mail and so on.
Anyway, the second issue was released in 1986 and this one was also printed in 100 examples. The second issue included interviews with the Australian band Vicious Circle, Italian Crash Box, Norwegian Siste Dagers Helvete and the Swedish bands Herraids, Rea Respirator and Protes Bengt.
Between issue 2 and 3, Byt Ben released Palimpsest cassette "Eat More Meat" (see the Palimpsest-department for more information), also that one was printed in 100 examples. The third issue of Byt Ben also became the last issue. Once again it took about a year between the issues but when it came out 1987 it included interviews with the American bands Justice League & Killing Children, French Heimat-Los, Spanish Anti/doggmatikss, Italian Disper-azione and the Swedish bands 16 blåsare utan hjärna and Wounded Knee. The third and last number of Byt Ben was also printed in 100 examples.
